Playing on 2 different computers?
I'm not asking if I can play at the same time on both computers with the same account. I'm asking if with the same account I can play guild wars on different computers within the same household at different times? Like I might be nearer to computer #1 than #2 and get on that one. But later I find someone else using #1 to watch a vid on hulu, so to play guild wars I go to computer #2 instead. I just want to know if its alright.

You can play on your account on any computer, from any location you want. The server won't allow you to login from two different computers at the same time on the same account. You can not let someone else login to your account and play it. But you yourself can play from wherever you want.

Think of Guild Wars as being like an email account. It doesn't matter where you are or what computer you're using, you can log on to it from any computer anywhere.

I do it a lot...I have 2 computers next to each other (one I cant really play on since its an old laptop)...I can log into my account on one...and another account on the other (and my hubby plays on a 3rd computer--so thats 3 in the same household)....so yeah, not an issue.

The one thing I have found to be machine depended since it get saved locally is the folder containing your skill builds. So you may want to copy it over onto any machine on which you play Guild Wars. It avoids the question "Where did all my builds go?"

Also, I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think your display settings are saved server-side, so when you play on a different resolution your UI placement may be screwed up.

Yeah display settings are server side saved and your UI gets messed up like crazy if you (for example) go from playing on 1920x1080 down to 1024x768.

Actually no:
Update - Thursday, May 5, 2011 Fixed a bug that caused resolution settings to be saved on an account basis instead of locally.

Btw, another way of looking at it is to think of GW as being like GWGuru forums. You just need your account name and password to log in to GWGuru forums from any browser. Similarly, you just need your account name and password (and security question) to log into GW from any GW client. |
